Sedation Can Help You Return to the Dentist

Dr. Ron Receveur visited the dentist a lot as a child.

He was born with a partial cleft palate and a congenitally missing tooth. It would be fair to say he went to the dentist more in his childhood than some families do in a lifetime.

He understands why people may be hesitant to get dental care. No matter how much you might benefit from it or how much you may need a dental treatment, if you have dental anxiety, you are going to have a hard time making an appointment.

When he opened his own dental practice, he wanted to be able to help any patient who walked through our door in New Albany, IN. He traveled the world to learn from internally-renowned experts in teeth replacement and dental implants.

But he also wanted to make dental care as comfortable as it could possibly be. That’s why we offer IV sedation at New Albany Implants.

Keep reading or call us (812) 945-7645 to learn more about how sedation dentistry could help you or someone you love.

Dental Anxiety is Common

Most people experience a degree of anxiety about coming to the dentist.

For some, it’s because of bad or even painful experiences in their childhood. For others, it’s because they had the misfortune of having a judgmental dentist who was critical of every little issue they had.

Still other people have sensitive gag reflexes, or they are bothered by the sounds of dental equipment being used.

We often can tell when patients are nervous whether or not they say a word about it. We have definitely watched patients grab tightly to the arms of their chairs as their knuckles turn white.

It’s OK if you feel nervous, but we also want you do know that we can alleviate those anxious feelings.

Dr. Ron has been putting patients at ease since he opened his practice decades ago.

We make every effort to make our patients feel more comfortable. If there is something that would help you feel more relaxed, please let us know. We want you to understand that we are here to help however we can.

That also means treating you will compassion. Many people have told us they put off dental work for years because they were embarrassed by the condition of their teeth. They were worried that the dentist would get mad or criticize them (like the dentist they had before).

We don’t do that at New Albany Implants. Our goal is to meet you where you are, lift your spirits, and give you the healthiest, most attractive smile that you can have.

That may mean getting one of our zirconium bridges, getting dental implants to support your new teeth, or getting something else.

Advanced Dental Sedation

Many offices promote “sedation” dentistry at their practices, but only a small percentage offer IV sedation. We are one of those select practices who do.

With IV sedation, you can trust that:

  • You won’t feel any pain.
  • You won’t gag.
  • You can complete complex procedures in a single visit instead of spread out over multiple appointments.
  • You won’t have any memory of the procedure itself. (This is something many patients tell us is their favorite part of IV sedation.)

So why don’t more dentists offer IV sedation?

For starters, it requires more training than other kinds of sedation. In Indiana, dentists must complete 60 hours of training and demonstrate their knowledge with 20 clinical cases before they can be certified to offer IV sedation.

Dr. Ron has gone well beyond those minimum requirements and has years of experience administering IV sedation almost daily. Dr. Bradley Frederick completed an IV sedation residency at Duquesne University before joining our practice.

In other words, our doctors have the knowledge, training, and experience to provide the most advanced dentistry while you remain pain- and worry-free.

Start with a Consultation

If you haven’t been to the dentist in a while, we understand that you may not want to make an appointment right away.

Instead, we encourage you to schedule a consultation with Dr. Ron. This is your opportunity to meet us, to learn about our approach to dental care, and to ask any questions about our sedation options.

To set up your consultation, start by filling out our online form or by calling (812) 945-7645.
